Most popular generators including dual fuel generators use diesel fuel, gasoline or propane, which are all flammable. To avoid fires, they should be placed in a solid, level and insulated place (to avoid vibrations from combustion), with good cleaning and ventilation to balance hot air (radiators, fans and exhaust pipes). To avoid the risk of accidents, the appliance should be placed at least 1 meter away from walls and other objects and installed by a qualified technician.
Fires and explosions can also be avoided by observing the following precautions: always keep a fire extinguisher near the appliance, do not smoke near the appliance, clean up any oil spills, check for flammable materials nearby and observe all rules regarding storage and handling of fuel.
